Unforgettable Albuquerque
The best time to visit Albuquerque New Mexico is early October during the premier of the Balloon Fiesta, the world’s largest ballooning event. Humble beginnings in 1972 with just 13 balloons has blossomed into an international 9 day celebration with over 500 hot air balloons attracting some 750,000 visitors. www.balloonfiesta.com
During your visit, take note of the beautiful Sandia Mountains. With an elevation of 10,678’ sprawling 17 miles north to south, they are majestic indeed. Ride on the Sandia Tramway for a bird’s eye view of the spectacular mountain range and the city beyond. There are over 100 trails to explore to satisfy a variety of hikers, some who ride the tram up and hike back down. www.sandiapeak.com
Visiting Albuquerque’s historic Old Town Plaza is a peaceful step back in time. Considered the heart of Albuquerque, Old Town encompasses 10 blocks of 300+ year old adobe buildings which in 1706 were the city’s first neighborhood, and are now museums, restaurants, shops and galleries with San Felipe Church later built in 1793. www.visitalbuquerque.org
Albuquerque is so worth the visit: the culture, the architecture, the food, the history, the bluest of skies; Life both old and new. New Mexico is truly the Land of Enchantment.
