Dishwasher Leaks & Water Damage
You put the last coffee cup in the dishwasher, start it, grab your keys and drive off for work. Everything is great, right? Not so great if you come home to a flooded kitchen caused by a leaky dishwasher. Floods can occur very quickly. Our water damage certified technicians at Water Extraction Experts have helped many homeowners recover from a flooded kitchen caused by a leaking dishwasher.
Causes of Dishwasher Leaks
The most common cause of dishwasher leaks is worn gaskets. Other common causes can be a cracked or defective dishwasher tub, broken door, a dishwasher not being level or someone thinking it’s a great idea to use regular liquid dishwashing soap instead of soap specific for dishwashers. Spoiler alert…it’s not a good idea to use regular dishwashing liquid in your dishwasher.
Water Damage due to Dishwasher Leaks
Floor damage can almost be guaranteed if the water isn’t cleaned up within a couple hours. Laminate floors, wood floors, and bamboo floors are prone to the most water damage. “We have special equipment to dry out wood floors. Water gets between and underneath the wood planks causing the wood to cup. We use special mats to extract the water from the floor along with dehumidifiers, said Doug Adlesperger, owner, and operator of Water Extraction Experts in Northern Colorado and Wyoming. “Replacing or repairing wood floors can be very expensive. It’s in the homeowner’s best interest to call us immediately. The sooner we can extract the water…the less damage” explained Matt Adlesperger, Owner, and Operator of Water Extraction Experts in the Santa Fe & Albuquerque New Mexico are.
